On Hawking’s Local Rigidity Theorems for Charged Black Holes
نویسنده
چکیده
We show the existence of a Hawking vector field in a full neighborhood of a local, regular, bifurcate, non-expanding horizon embedded in a smooth Einstein-Maxwell space-time without assuming the underlying space-time is analytic. It extends one result of Friedrich, Rácz and Wald, see [3], which was limited to the interior of the black hole region. Moreover, we also show, in the presence of an additional Killing vector field T which tangent to the horizon and not vanishing on the bifurcate sphere, then spacetime must be locally axially symmetric without the analyticity assumption. This axial symmetry plays a fundamental role in the classification theory of stationary black holes.

Entropy of extreme three-dimensional charged black holes
It is shown that three-dimensional charged black holes can approach the extreme state at nonzero temperature. Unlike even dimensional cases, the entropy for the extreme three-dimensional charged black hole is uniquely described by the BekensteinHawking formula, regardless of different treatments of preparing the extreme black hole, namely, Hawking’s treatment and Zaslavskii’s treatment. PACS nu...
متن کاملSome results on dynamical black holes
We give indications that outer future trapping horizons play a role in the particular semiclassical instability of an evolving black hole that produces the Hawking’s radiation. These are obtained with the use of the Hamilton-Jacobi tunneling method. It automatically selects one special expression for the surface gravity of a changing horizon, the one defined a decade ago by Hayward using Kodama...
متن کاملAn Introduction to Black Hole Evaporation
Classical black holes are defined by the property that things can go in, but don’t come out. However, Stephen Hawking calculated that black holes actually radiate quantum mechanical particles. The two important ingredients that result in back hole evaporation are (1) the spacetime geometry, in particular the black hole horizon, and (2) the fact that the notion of a “particle” is not an invarian...
متن کاملHawking’s Local Rigidity Theorem without Analyticity
We prove the existence of a Hawking Killing vector-field in a full neighborhood of a local, regular, bifurcate, non-expanding horizon embedded in a smooth vacuum Einstein manifold. The result extends a previous result of Friedrich, Rácz and Wald, see [7, Proposition B.1], which was limited to the domain of dependence of the bifurcate horizon. So far, the existence of a Killing vector-field in a...
متن کاملThe Positive Mass Theorem for Multiple Rotating Charged Black Holes
In this paper a lower bound for the ADM mass is given in terms of the angular momenta and charges of black holes present in axisymmetric initial data sets for the Einstein-Maxwell equations. This generalizes the mass-angular momentum-charge inequality obtained by Chrusciel and Costa to the case of multiple black holes. We also weaken the hypotheses used in the proof of this result for single bl...
